Drag Racing — Package

Sportsman

Track Start with the numbers the crowd can actually read — 15in wireless dual-lane scoreboards, the 330ft split, and RA Command Drag race management software included.

Built For

A weekly program that races in front of a grandstand

The same 2700 XL console, wireless DTSS tree, and full wireless track electronics as Track Start — built up where it matters once there are spectators in the stands and a points championship on the line.

Two changes carry the package. The scoreboards go to 15in digits, readable to roughly 660 feet instead of 320, on a wireless dual-lane pair with the data link built in — so the boards go up wherever the sightlines are good, with no cable run to reach them. And the 330ft split gets added to the 60ft and end-of-track numbers, which is the incremental racers actually use to sort out a car.

RA Command Drag comes with the package, so race management runs from a PC in the tower rather than off the console keypad. The console keeps its own timing and timeslip printing either way — the hardware runs a night on its own if the PC ever goes down.

FAQ

Questions about this package

What does this add over the Track Start package?

Three things. The scoreboards step up from 8in to 15in digits — readable to about 660 feet instead of 320, which is the difference between the tower reading them and the grandstand reading them. The 330ft ET split (6017D3) is added to the 60ft and end-of-track numbers. And RA Command Drag race management software is included rather than being a later add-on. Console, tree, starting line electronics, and timeslip printing are identical.

Can I add more splits later?

Yes, and nothing already installed changes. The wireless mid-track ET and speed package (6017BM) and the 1000ft/305m ET and speed package (6017D1) both drop straight onto the 2700 XL — the 1000ft split is the one to add if you're running 1/4 mile.

Is race management software included?

Yes — RA Command Drag (3128C) comes with this package and runs on a Windows PC in the tower. You supply the PC. The timing console still prints timeslips on its own, so a night can be run from the hardware alone if the PC is ever out of service.

Can the timeslip printer live somewhere other than the tower?

Yes. As quoted, the printer sits in the tower on the 6034D adapter. To print trackside instead, we swap that for a wireless RS232 unit (4520D2) with its AC adapter and a USB wireless unit at the console — same printer, no cable between them.

What about warranty and spares?

Extended warranty service to 12 months is available on both the timing system and the scoreboards, and a blowmolded carry case for the console (6070B) is worth adding for a program that tears down between events. All quotable as add-ons.

Building this out for your strip?

Common additions to this package: the 1000ft split for 1/4 mile, the handheld starter's pushbutton, a high-gain antenna kit for long or obstructed tower-to-track paths, a carry case for the console, and extended warranty service. Tell us what your program needs and we'll quote it.
