With each model of the 2700 wireless timing system there has been significant enhancements and gains in performance. The main differences are as follows:
First, all three models of the 2700 have dual microprocessors. The 2700A and 2700B have the same main timing microprocessor and the 2700C has the latest technology main timing microprocessor capable of a 10x computing power increase. This offers enhanced performance from the timing system overall. All new feature development is focused on the 2700C model. RaceAmerica offers an upgrade program for owners of the 2700A and 2700B replacing the timer with a new 2700C.
Another difference is the wireless on each timer. The 2700A contains a separate wireless hardware assembly external to the timer mounted on the underside of the timer. The 2700B and 2700C locate the wireless hardware internal to the timer mounted on the same circuit board as the main timing electronics.
The last big difference is the 2700C requires less power draw due to the latest technology components. This generates less heat adding to the dependability and reliability of the overall circuit design with better heat dispersion.
If you have a choice of a used 2700A or 2700B or a new 2700C, go with the 2700C. The huge increase in computing power, less power draw and heat generation, and the future features developed on the 2700C make the 2700C well worth the additional investment.
